TULLOS III
Spiral motif carved into a rare piece of Connemara marble.
The Spiral appears regularly in megalithic art at a range of locations across Western Europe.
Regarded in many traditions as symbolic of the divine feminine, the spiral represents the womb, fertility, the serpent, continual change and evolution.
Since we know that prehistoric people were fascinated by the sun and the moon, it is likely that the spiral, as a development of the circle, may also represent the sun and the passage of time.
Both the sun and the moon exhibit apparent spiral movement over time, rising and setting in different places every day, and their journey was referred to as ‘spiralling’ by ancient astronomers.
This necklace is complete with handmade, naturally stabilised hemp rope cordage, pure bronze wire and a toggle made of English elm.
Pendant dimensions:
20mm x 20mm x 6mm
Hang length:
330mm
TULLOS - ‘pierced’, ‘perforated’ or ‘hole’ in Proto-Celtic (reconstructed language)
