MINI SNOWSHILL BATTLE AXE

£86.00

Mini replica of a basalt battle axe head found at an early Bronze Age burial site alongside human remains, a bronze dagger, spearhead and pin.

The original was discovered at Snowshill in Gloucestershire and is dated to around 1900-1700 BCE.

One end of the axe head is sharp and the other is flattened into more of a hammer shape. It was likely used as a ritual object rather than a tool or weapon as there is no sign of wear on the artefact.

The shape is of the same proportions as the original artefact, only scaled down to miniature. The pendant is made hand carved serpentine-veined-basalt from Scotland.

This listing is for one of the two identically shaped pendants seen in the photographs. Exact colour and natural markings in the stone may vary.

This necklace is complete with waxed hemp cordage and a toggle made of the same stone as the pendant.

Pendant dimensions:                                       34mm x 15mm x 12mm

Hang Length:
320mm
